Evaluating Your Present Orthotics

Comprehensive Orthotic Evaluations at the Foot & Ankle Center of Washington

As a Center of Excellence for foot orthotic therapy, we do many second opinions regarding orthotics.

If you currently wear orthotics, be sure that your devices fit the criteria below:

  • Your orthotics should be comfortable
  • Your orthotics should relieve the symptoms which they were meant to relieve
  • You should want to wear your orthotics (they tend not to work very well when sitting in your sock drawer)
  • Your orthotics should fit easily into your shoes. This assumes that you are wearing the proper shoes for your feet.

If your orthotics do not fit the above criteria, follow-up with the practitioner who made them or consult a podiatrist who has expertise in biomechanics and orthotics.  If you are, or will be, in the Puget Sound area, call us for an appointment.  We will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your orthotics and your biomechanical situation.

The following are included in our Comprehensive Orthotic Evaluation:

  • How well do your orthotics conform to your feet
  • Are they providing proper biomechanical function to best help your symptoms
  • Do your orthotics have all the proper modifications to give your the best clinical outcome
  • Are your orthotics comfortable and not causing irritation
  • Do your orthotics fit properly into your shoes
  • Are you wearing the proper shoes for your orthotics and for your foot problem
  • Orthotic wear patterns

Following the evaluation we will make recommendations regarding your orthotic devices and your treatment plan.  We may recommend continuing to use your current orthotics as they are, making modifications to your current orthotics (most modifications we can do in our office), or we may recommend a new pair if it is in your best interests.  We will always work to give you the best clinical outcome while keeping your costs as low as possible.

To be certain your orthotics are providing optimum relief for your foot problem bring your orthotics along with some shoes you commonly wear with orthotics.

To make an appointment for a detailed evaluation of the function of your foot orthotics, call our Seattle office for an appointment.
