A good orthotic can make high heels and pumps far more comfortable. The
best high heel arch supports act to transfer pressure off of the ball of
the foot and the heel and distribute that pressure onto the arch of the
foot. This will prevent heel pain, ball of foot pain and fatigue when
wearing dress shoes.
A. Custom Orthotics for High Heel and
Pumps
You can get either custom or prefabricated orthotics for dress shoes.
Custom orthotics, if they are made correctly, will usually work better
because they conform tighter to the arch of the foot. These “total
contact orthotics” are made from a cast of your foot and do the best job
of transferring pressure off of the ball of the foot and the heel. We
can make extremely small orthotics that work great in most women’s high
heels and pumps. You can learn more about custom dress shoe orthotics
here.
B. Prefabricated Orthotics for High Heels and Pumps
We have evaluated many arch supports for high heels and pumps and have
two that we recommend regularly. Of all of the OTC orthotics these do
the best at supporting the arch and transferring pressure off of the
ball of the foot and the heel. We have one orthotic we recommend for
shoes with a closed back and one we recommend for shoes with an open
back (slingbacks).
a. Best Insert for High Heels and Boots with a Closed Heel:
Women's Dress Slimfit Insoles is the best OTC arch support orthotic we have found for pumps and high heels that have a closed heel. It is also great for boots. By transferring force off of the ball of the foot and the heel, they reduce pain from problems like plantar fasciitis and neuromas. They can also reduce back and leg pain by improving body alignment and balance
b. Best Insert for Slingback or Backless High Heels:
The McConnel Slimfit Insoles has an adhesive bottom that allows it to fit into slingbacks and backless pumps and high heels. This unique device transfers pressure off of the ball of the foot and the heel, supports the arch and reduces pain and fatigue. They can also reduce back and leg pain by improving body alignment and balance.
