You want to look for a shoe with a good firm heel counter. To test
this squeeze the back of the heel. You also want a shoe that has good
torsional stability. To check torsional stability hold the shoe like
this like you are wringing out a towel, twist it back and forth. It
should be stiff. Finally, the shoe should bend at the front just the way
your toes bend. You do not want the front of the toe to touch the heel
so when you bend it, it should bend in the front not in the middle.
